Pay Per Click Program: Affiliate Marketing Benefits

Done correctly, promoting a pay per click program as an affiliate can be very profitable.   And, the great thing, of course, is that you can do this from your own home.

Less than a decade ago, Google Ad Words forever revolutionized business.

Think about it.  Literally, the day before pay per click advertising was introduced to the world, you, I, and the rest of the world needed a full time job running a brick and mortar store; expensive inventory, overhead, and advertising; employees (you at a minimum); and the stomach for risk because there was no guarantee of success.

That all changed, in what now seems a blink of an eye, with the development of a whole new industry that works great with pay per click advertising:  affiliate marketing.

But, what is affiliate marketing?  Basically, it looks like this:

A merchant pays a commission to an internet marketer (called an “affiliate” or “publisher”) who promotes and sells the merchant’s product or service to a customer from the marketer’s web site or web page.

Everything is automated. The customer goes to the marketer’s website and clicks a link to purchase the merchant’s product or service. The link is specially coded to---presumably, more on this in another section---ensure that the affiliate (i.e., you) gets the commission upon the consummation of the sale.

Consider these 20 benefits of affiliate marketing in your pay per click program:

1.   A True Home Based Business

Actually, you don’t need a home or even a telephone.  Just access to a computer.

2.   You’re Your Own Boss

3.   You Don’t Need a Website Or Know Any Code

Sure, you’re welcome to build a website but you don’t need to do so.

Ever hear of Web 2.0?  That term refers to (typically free) collaborative web properties like social networking sites and blogs.  There are, literally, thousands of these Web 2.0 sites online and many provide great, free venues for pay per click programs.

Examples of Web 2.0 sites:  Squidoo.com; Weebly.com; Hubpages.com; Wordpress.com; Tumblr.com; Blogspot.com; Knol.google.com; Webs.com

4.   No Development or Production Costs

Developing a new product is cost prohibitive for a home-based business. As an affiliate marketer, you’ll never pay a dollar to produce something  because the product already exists.

5.   Minimal Set Up Costs

If you have a computer and an internet connection, you are ready to rock and roll.  No computer?  No problem.  Go to your local internet café.

6.   No Royalties or Franchise Fees

Having a small business is risky. Franchises reduce the risks sometimes but at a large price.  Franchise fees are thousands of dollars.  There are always monthly royalties, long-term leases, and absolutely no guarantee that you won’t lose your shirt.

Franchises are. . . well. . . so last century.

7Tens of Thousands of Products

Ten years ago, there were virtually no affiliate programs.  Today, pay per click programs offer everything under the sun.

8.   No Sales Experience Required

Remember going past a store with a little sign saying: “Help Wanted.  Experienced Sales Person”?  Today’s affiliate merchants often provide excellent marketing material. Many affiliate sites go up in less than a day.

9No Employees

If you have a physical store or storefront, you’re going to need at least one employee (you) to answer the phone, pay the bills, serve the customer, and more. And, of course, most stores require several employees.

A virtual store (an affiliate web page or website) requires no employees.

10. No Merchant Account

In this day and age, virtually every store needs to accept credit or debit cards.  A merchant account can be quite costly because VISA, Mastercharge, Discover, AMEX, have steep transaction costs. Charge backs and fraud can make it even tougher to make a profit.

An affiliate marketer doesn’t need a merchant account because the affiliate merchant bears all payment processing expenses.

11. No Inventory

No inventory.  Never.

12. No Order Processing Headaches

The pay per click program model completely eliminates the need for the affiliate marketer to have any contact with the customer.  There is nothing to process.  Absolutely nothing.

13. No Shipping or Handling

14. Never Need To Provide Customer Service

15. Earn While You Snooze or Play

The Web is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and recognizes no holidays.  Visitors to your pay per click program can come while you are awake, asleep, home, at your other job, or on vacation. They click, buy, and you get a commission.

16. Worldwide Marketplace

At any given moment, there are hundreds of millions of people shopping on the net.  Google Ad Words can literally drive more interested potential buyers to your website or web page in a day than a small town merchant might see in a week---or longer.

And, unlike that merchant that never knows how many people are going to come in, your pay per click program with Google Ad Words allows you to determine your site’s traffic.

17. Minimal Risk

Should the product you’ve chosen to promote isn’t making money, simply get rid of it and put another in its place. Costs you nothing.

The only risk involves expenses incurred in pay per click advertising with Google Ad Words.  But, if you have good Adwords management (good product selection, not overpaying for Google ad words, great keyword headline and ad, and rigorous testing), this risk is dramatically ameliorated.

18. Good Income Potential

In your day job, your salary or wage is pretty constant.  A good affiliate ad, however, has good income potential.

19. Cookie Cutter Approach

Ever complained about your job being “same old, same old?” The daily repetitiveness can get pretty boring---except when you are an affiliate marketer.  Once you get the hang of creating an affiliate web site or page, use the approach like a cookie cutter to create additional profitable sites or pages, quickly and inexpensively.

20. You Won’t Get Flim Flammed By a “Get Rich Quick” Scheme

Let’s face it.  These last years have been tough for lots of people.  And whenever there is a financial crisis, the “get rich quick” fraud artists come out of the woodwork and offer something that sounds too good to be true---and, of course, turns out to be false.

A good affiliate marketer doesn’t need to fall for these schemes.  Through proper product research and Adwords management, he or she builds real Google Ad Words profits, a page at a time, through an effective pay per click program.
